Eadestown U10 boys finished off their Spring League campaign with a resounding victory over local neighbours Blessington.

Both teams agreed before throw in to change the format of the game to four ten minute quarters to allow for players to take on water to try to combat the stifling heat.
Eadestown started strongly with Oscar Gough, Conor Morrin and Evan Cahill all scoring to put the host’s noses in front. Some strong defending from Alfie Gough, Dan Sargent and Oisin Touhy, backed up by some fine sweeping up from goalie Liam Foley kept the Wicklow men scoreless in the first quarter to ensure the home side were on top when the refs whistle brought the opening period to an end.

The second quarter started off with Alfie and Oisin dominating their opposing forwards. This allowed Dan to drive forward and help the midfield of Anna Hines, Evan and Conor to dominate play.
Dan and Evan both scored to stretch the host’s lead before a fine piece of improvisation from Oscar lead to a goal for Eadestown.
Our defence again kept the visitors scoreless and the half finished with Eadestown ahead by 2-04 to 0-0.

Blessington came out fighting in the third quarter and were finally rewarded with a couple of scores. But this just stirred the Blues into further action. Conor finished off a lovely passing move for a point before Oscar stepped up and took the game by the scruff of the neck, scoring a quick fire 1-02. The quarter ended with the home team comfortably ahead by 3-07 to 0-02.
Despite being behind, Blessington showed great character in the final quarter and made a fight of the game, scoring three goals.
But points from Conor and Anna kept the scoreboard ticking over for Eadestown.

The game finished with The Pocket Rocket, Oscar, again showing his worth to the team. Despite some very physical challenges from the Blessington side, the wee man picked himself up time and again to score another 1-02, bringing his personal total for the day to 3-05.
At the final whistle the score read

4-11 to 3-3 and Eadestown finished the Spring League unbeaten, a magnificent achievement.
Well done to all the players for their effort during the campaign
