Eadestown U9s Boys vs Confey

Saturday 16th June, Eadestown GAA

On a windy Saturday afternoon the Eadestown under 9's faced into a strong head wind. Confey started well with an early goal and some confident play. Eadestown hung in thanks to great defending from Will Cullen, John Fielding and Vann Doran, with well taken points from the excellent Oscar Gough.

The second quarter continued in the same vein with strong midfield play from Confey and Eadestown hanging in against the wind with good defending from goalkeeper Donncha Pearce and well worked points from Charlie Ross. The advantage was with Eadestown at half-time due to more ball over the bar; Eadestown 0-7(21), Confey 4-3(13).

Eadestown grew in confidence in the second half and started stringing some nice passes together. Goalkeeper Will Cullen used the wind for some great long kick outs. Forward Sam Walsh had a great block followed by some dogged defence to win the ball for Eadestown to score.  Midfielder Oisin Cahill gave some great passes.

In the final quarter Eadestown shone, holding Confey to one score, with good saves from Anthony Curtin, and controlling midfield play from Liam Mescal and Oscar Gough. Centre forward Ben Walsh finished some nice team play from Eadestown. Capped by some great points from Liam Mescal, Oscar Gough and John Fielding. Final score Eadestown 3-14(45), Confey 5-5(20)

A great team effort from all to finish the Spring League on a high, after winning a close game against Rathcoffey earlier in the week, with two great goals from Harry Doyle.  All players should be very proud of themselves.
