Eadestown V Sallins
Eadestown under 10 girls took on Sallins on 26th May on our home pitch. This came just a week after we had a great performance against Kilcullen so we were hoping for another exciting match. This team has a great bunch of players at both the younger and older end and they all got a good deal of game time at the match.
The match started great with a well taken goal from Molly Lawlor within the first 2 minutes. The first quarter was dominated by our fantastic ‘older’ and more experienced girls Anna Hynes, Grace Dowling, Lilly Harney, Sophie Boyse, Misha Magee, Naomi O’Sullivan & Molly Lawlor who all set us up with a great lead early on. The Sallins Goalie was kept busy throughout the match and saved a great shot from Molly only for her to follow through and score on the rebound Ali also was brilliant in goal and made a great save to deny Sallins an early score.
The second quarter started off where the first ended with Grace Dowling scoring a cracking point immediately. The second and third quarters were now dominated by the younger members of the team. Early on there were some lovely passing and combined moves between Lilly Harney, Katie Hill, Claire Boyse, Roisin Breen, Rose Madden, Shauna Malone and Roisin Hill . They all played brilliantly to set up more great scores. Eadestown were dominant throughout the match, and when Sallins came forward our defenders were stuck to them like glue, limiting their scoring opportunities. Ellen Berrigen made a great save in goal from a really good Sallins effort clearing her line quickly. The third quarter saw our defenders tempted to move forwards to get a bit of the action. Phoebe Granger, Laura Maher, Tara Flynn, Maria Curran, Ali Dowling, Ellen Berrigan, Carla Fitzachery all showed great skill in some lovely short passing moves and great efforts on goal.
Sallins came out strong in the last quarter. There were well taken points from Grace Dowling and Phoebe Granger.
The match ended on a high with a nice interception by Lilly who cleared up field to Claire, quickly passed to Sophie and then Laura who scored a lovely point for the team.
A great effort and strong team performance from all the girls.
