This is the first outing for our very large groups of U10s Girls so there was a lot of excitement and great enthusiasm in the build up to this game. Eadestown started extremely strong with Molly Lawlor’s first kick of the ball producing a great goal. Kilcullen took a while to settle and fought hard for possession especially around midfield. Molly added another goal after great defending in the back from Mia Grainger. Misha Magee stepped up from midfield and narrowly missed a point with a great solo effort. Kilcullen were defending well under strong pressure from Eadestown helped by very strong defence from Carla Fitzachary, Grace Dowling & Lilly Harney keeping the ball in the Kilcullen Half. Naomi O’Sullivan had a very narrow miss in front of goal. Molly Lawlor added a 3rd goal. Lilly Harney added another great goal. Kilcullen scored a point from play and Rose Madden helped Eadestown defence with some great tackling in midfield.

 

The second quarter started off strong for Eadestown with two goals from Molly Lawlor and Lily Harney, Kilcullen came into the game more in this quarter with great blocking in midfield. However Lily Harney scored a great goal from nearly the halfway line to drive Eadestown forward. Grace Dowling and Maria Curran were very strong in the back line to keep Kilcullen out. Grace Dowling added a Goal for Eadestown and Kilcullen responded with a point to finish of the quarter.

The Third quarter started off with Molly Lawlor adding another goal from a great kick out by Phoebe. Moly Lawlor added another 2 goals to show Eadestown dominance up front.  Phoebe made a great save and Grace Dowling played very strong in the backs. Kilcullen added a point from a free. Kate Doyle, Laura Maher and Katie Hill and Roisin Breen all defended extremely well. Lily Harney had a narrow miss and Sophie Boyse had a goal attempt saved by the Kilcullen keeper. Claire Boyse, Tara Flynn and Mia Granger strong defending kept Kilcullen out. The quarter finished off strong with a superb move started in the backs by Grace Dowling and through Lilly Harney back to Grace and finally onto Naomi O’Sullivan who finished the move in style with a great goal.

 

The Fourth Quarter started off strong for Eadestown with Robyn Delaney controlling midfield with the help of Tara Flynn and Shauna Malone. Grace Dowling ensured that Kilcullen could not penetrate the back line and Naomi O Sullivan produced another goal for Eadestown up front. Kilcullen played very well in defend in this quarter but Robyn Delaney produced a great point from play for Eadestown. Kilcullen had their best goal chance of the match halfway through the quarter and Goal keeper Ali Dowling produced the save of the match to keep Kilcullen out of the Eadestown net. Her save produced a great round of applause from all in attendance.  Eadestown best move of the day came from a Lilly Harney pass to Naomi O Sullivan and onto Robyn Delaney who finished in style with a glorious point from play. Kilcullen finished the game with a point. All in all Everyone on the Eadestown panel got a great run today and their enthusiasm and commitment in the sun helped produce a great starting performance for the first competitive game in 2018.
