The Eadestown Feile panel played their semi-final at home this morning against Abbey Rangers.  The visiting team won the toss and elected to play into the wind.  Ref Liam Whelan threw in the ball and Abbey Rangers won the throw, followed by a point in the first two minutes.  Not the best start for our lads.  Things changed quickly however, with Charlie Carroll opening the scoring for Eadestown with a well taken goal.  This was quickly followed with a point from a free taken by Dara McGettrick.  The lads settled quickly, taking advantage of the favourable wind and opened the gap with scores from Cian Boran, Aidan Walsh, Mal Harney and Daniel Dowling.  Abbey Rangers key player was strong midfielder no. 9, however he was continually tackled by Aidan Walsh and Cian Boran and his progress slowed.  Dara McGettrick and Niall Grainger took the lions share of the scores.   The Eadestown backline Aaron Curtin, Darragh Jameson and Ardin Magee defended their lead well.  The first half came to an end with Eadestown leading 5-9 to 0-2, with half and full forwards Dara McGettrick and Niall Grainger taking the lions share of the scores.

As predicted by the Eadestown mentors however, the second half was a closer affair.  Aidan Walsh continued to track his no.9 allowing Cian Boran and Mal Harney the space to dominate the centre.  Jason Brady was moved to midfield in the last twenty minutes and put in a particularly strong second half converting three lovely points from play.  Other scores came from Tiarnan O'Rourke and Liam Brannelly. Daniel Dowling, Alvin Hayden and Mark Dockery also put in gutsy performances winning the majority of 50/50 balls put to them.  Ben O'Reilly came on as full forward to replace Niall Grainger and finished the game with the final point.

The game ended 9-16 to 1-7.  Top scorer was Niall Grainger with 4-0.

The final will be played next weekend, exact date/time and location still tbc.  Opponents will be Milltown who we played in the previous match in a very close encounter.
